A curated night for singles who want to meet in real life
Off the Apps is a singles-only evening at a Charleston brewery. It’s for those that want to meet people in real life, have some fun, and take the pressure off of having to keep up on the dating apps.
It is application only with every guest chosen by a licensed marriage and family therapist, so you walk in knowing the room is full of people who are single, intentional, and ready to meet someone. The dating pool becomes curated to represent similar interests, values, and personalities.
Guests will enjoy a fun icebreaker activity promoting curiosity and in depth conversation, an intro dance lesson on salsa and swing, and a little time at the end to try our your new dance moves!
This is for you if…
You're single and ready to meet someone but discouraged with the dating apps. Swiping seems so impersonal and then you spend forever in the “talking stage” only to be let down by not making a connection in real life. It also seems like you've swiped through probably every single person in Charleston! You want to have fun but you don't exactly want to meet someone out and about at a bar either.
You want more in person connections instead of staring at a screen. You want to see a person's face light up in real time as you crack a joke and be mesmerized by their smile. The nerves, the butterflies, the energy of meeting someone new … bring it on!

How it works
APPLY:
Complete an application to help us learn more about you, your interests, personality, and what you're looking for! It takes less than ten minutes.
GET ACCEPTED:
Katie Bonanno, LMFT reviews applications to create a thoughtful, balanced room full of people with similarities. If you are not accepted, you will receive an email. It only means that the demographic does not match you for this specific event. People who are not accepted for this event will be the first people contacted for future events!
PAY:
Once accepted you will receive an email with a payment link for your ticket. You will have seven days from when the email is sent to buy your ticket. Due to the demand for this event, if tickets are not paid for within 3 days, your spot will be opened up to someone else and you will go into a waitlist. If there are more spots available, we will open the waitlist and send you a second invitation. The ticket must be paid for within 48 hours to secure your spot.

What to expect
OFF THE APPS: Dating and Dancing will be held at Hobcaw Brewing Co in Mt Pleasant on November 15th at 4pm.
Come grab a complimentary drink on us, meet the hosts, grab your name tag, and mix and mingle while playing a fun little icebreaker game. The icebreaker game is designed to get you talking to everyone while learning more about them. No awkward “so what do you do for work?” over and over again.
After that we will head into the dance portion to learn Salsa and Swing! The lesson will be intro level so don't worry about being good. Everyone will be on the same page. As you learn the dance moves, you'll rotate partners, giving you a chance to interact with everyone and practice the moves! We will end with a little music so you can mingle and try out your sweet, new moves.

FAQ's
What ages can apply?
The application is open to anyone 25+. This does not mean a wide variety of ages will be accepted. It only means a wide variety of ages can apply. Those accepted will have similar wants, interests, and ages.
What happens when I get accepted?
If you get accepted, it means that others have applied that are similar to you thus creating a dating pool curated to you. Yay! You will be sent an email with a payment link. You will have 3days to complete payment for your ticket. If you have not bought your ticket in the 3day timeframe, you will forfeit your spot and go into a waitlist. If we have spots open, we will send you a second invitation at which point you will have 48 hours to buy your ticket.
What happens if I don't get accepted?
If you don't get accepted, it only means that the dating pool did not have people of similar interests or personalities to you this time. For future events, we will be reaching out to anyone who previously applied first.
Will you be matching people together?
No! While we are taking applications and creating a curated dating people, we are NOT specifically matching people together. You are still in charge of and responsible for your own choices and will not be lead or swayed towards any one person. We also don't guarantee that you will meet someone.
What dances will we be learning?
Arthur Murray Mt Pleasant will be teaching intro level Salsa and Swing. Both are social dances that have communities and events here in Charleston. Learn some new moves and take your dates out dancing!

Katie Bonanno, LMFT of Simple Love Counseling is a couples and relationship therapist. Katie helps people create safe, and secure spaces within their relationships whether they are an individual or a couple. Katie also enjoys creating experiential events where people can have fun, interact, and learn new things while connecting.
